Reading Plans
The Bible Reading plans are just that -- very simple plans for reading
the Bible. They let you keep track of your progress and will even let
you form reading (or accountability) groups with other cabana members!

What are the cabana Bible Reading Plans?
The Bible Reading plans are just that -- very simple plans for
reading the Bible. They let you keep track of
your progress and will even tell you what percentage of the plan
you have completed. They also let you form reading (or accountability)
groups with other cabana members so you can make your way through
a plan with a partner or a whole bunch of partners!
You can start a plan at any time. And you can work at any pace.
You can do one reading a day or one reading a week. It's completely
up to you.
There are a number of plans available. We have one plan for
the entire Bible that is broken up into 365 readings. This plan
is designed for those who want to read through the Bible in a year.
There are also plans for each individual book of the Bible. These
plans are very simple and basically consist of one reading for
each chapter in the book. They are ideal for more in depth studies.
Instructions
There is no sign-up to start a reading plan! Of course, you must
be a registered manna cabana user. Simply login to the cabana and
click on the 'Reading Plans' link in the margin.
This will take you to the welcome page of the reading plan. You
can use the drop down menu at the top of the page to switch plans.
Choose the plan you wish to do.
Progress Snapshot
As you do the readings, check them off and click the 'Update' button to save your progress.
If you make a mistake and check a reading that you haven't done, just go back and uncheck it. No big deal.
When you check a reading, the system will give you the opportunity
to post some comments on that reading. If you do this, the comments
will be posted on the cabana boards to the 'Reading Plan' forum.
This is a special forum designed exclusively for the reading plans.
You cannot start threads in this forum -- they can only be started
by using the reading plan system. But you can reply to threads.
This is designed to encourage people to discuss their readings and
to share what they've learned.
Reading Groups
Here is the coolest feature (we think so anyway). If you want to be
accountable with somebody for your readings, or if you want to start
a Bible Study with others, the system will help you! First, talk with
some other cabana members about the plan and ask them whether they
would like to go through a plan with you. Once you find a partner
(or 2 or 3 or...), go to the main page for your reading plan. This
is the page that shows your progress snapshot for the plan you
are reading. On that page, you should notice a 'Reading Group' link.
Click this link.
Now you will see a few things. At the top, you will see a list of people in your accountability group.
Under that, you will see a text field where you can add people to your group. And under that, you will see a
chart that shows everyone's progress.
Here's how this works.
To add somebody to your group, simply type their username in the text
field and click the 'Add' button. You must type their username exactly
as it appears on the cabana boards and it is case sensitive. You can
type more than one username in the box -- just be sure to separate
each username with a space. This will add them to your group.
NOTE: They must also add you to their group! Once
they do, then you will be able to view their progress. When you add
somebody to your group, you are basically giving them permission to
see your progress. But they must also give you permission to see their
progress. So both people must give each other permission. Only then
will you both be able to see each other's progress.
Sound complicated? It's really not! I promise! Just try it out.
One quick example... Let's say Bob adds Jane to his group. And Jane
adds Bob to her group. Now Bob can see Jane's progress and Jane can
see Bob's progress. But what if Bob also wants to be accountable with
his friend Jim, but Jane doesn't know Jim? That's ok! Bob should just
add Jim to his group and Jim should add Bob. Then Bob and Jim can
see each other's progress and Bob and Jane can see each other's progress.
But Jim and Jane cannot.
Enjoy!
